Overview What is Forterra's General Pest Control service?

Forterra General Pest Control is a quarterly residential pest service for the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, starting at $49/month. Every visit is delivered using the proprietary Zero Gap System™, a treatment method that identifies and seals pest entry points with copper mesh, silicone, and caulk instead of relying on chemicals alone. The service covers over 50 of the most common DFW pests, including ants, roaches, spiders, scorpions, wasps, crickets, fleas, and rats and mice. Forterra rotates products and strategies based on the season to prevent pest resistance and re-treats free between maintenance visits if pests return. All services are backed by the Forterra Money-Back Guarantee and performed under Texas Pest Control License TPCL #850046. Does not include termites, mosquitoes, squirrels or wildlife.

On the ground in Dallas

Older housing, and decades of penetrations.

The quarterly plan out of the Dallas office runs against the oldest housing stock we service, and that shapes what the visits actually do. A house that has been standing sixty years has had plumbing recut, wiring pulled, air conditioning added and a kitchen moved, and every one of those left a penetration somewhere. The pests that turn up indoors here are usually not new arrivals, they are using routes that have been open for years.

So the perimeter work matters more than the interior spray. Technicians on this route spend their time at the slab line, at the weep holes, around utility entries and at the garage door corners, because closing those changes the following quarter rather than the following week. The plan is $49 a month with initial service from $149, and on this stock the first visit usually includes more sealing conversation than treatment.

Pier-and-beam sections deserve a separate mention. Where a property has one, the crawl space is doing more to determine what gets indoors than the exterior walls are, and it is the part almost nobody looks at. We include it in the first visit rather than treating it as an extra.

What it is

A perimeter service built to keep the bugs where they belong: outside.

General Pest Control is our foundational quarterly service. A Forterra technician, the same one, ideally, every visit, treats the exterior perimeter of your home: the foundation line, eaves, windows, doors, utility penetrations, garage, and yard zones where pests stage before they get inside.

Treatment is only half of it. The rest is exclusion: finding and sealing the gaps that act as highways for pests. Weep holes, gas-line and AC penetrations, gaps around door sweeps, unscreened vents. We use copper mesh, silicone, and sealant-grade caulk, materials that stay with the house whether you remain a customer or not.

Because we treat the outside thoroughly, we almost never need to spray the inside. That's better service and a better-protected home.

  • Included every visit: Full Zero Gap inspection · active issue resolution · written service summary
  • Between visits: See a pest? Text us. We re-treat free.
  • Not included: Termites, mosquitoes, those are separate services so you only pay for what you need.

How it works, The Zero Gap System™

Spray and pray is easy. Sealing is forever.

Every pest that gets inside your home came through a gap, a gas line penetration, an unsealed weep hole, a worn door sweep. Most companies spray a band and leave. We find the gaps and close them, one visit at a time. Whatever we seal stays sealed, even if you fire us tomorrow.

What your tech actually does on a typical Forterra general pest visit. Every visit is 20–30 minutes and follows the same six-zone pass, so nothing gets skipped between techs or seasons. Numbers on the diagram match the 6 Zones below.
  1. 01

    Inspect the perimeter.

Your tech walks all 6 zones, foundation, eaves, entry points, doors/windows, garage, yard, and logs what they find. They're then able to customize the treatment.

    ~5 min
  2. 02

    Treat where pests stage.

Perimeter treatment at the foundation, eave sweep, targeted spot treatments in high-pressure zones. We use the minimum effective product, not the maximum billable volume.

    ~10 min · exterior-first
  3. 03

    Seal a gap. Every visit.

This is the part everyone else skips. Copper mesh in weep holes. Silicone around utility penetrations. Fresh caulk where the old stuff failed. It's slower. It's better. And it stays with your house forever.

    ~10 min · materials included
  4. 04

    Report & follow up.

Before we leave: detailed report of what was treated, what was sealed, and what we identified for next visit. See a pest between services? Text us. We come back free.

Seasonal notes

DFW pest pressure by month.

North Texas has a long pest season, it never stops, although it does slow down during the colder months. But for those who have lived here know how crazy the weather can get. 70 degrees in January? No problem. Our quarterly treatment schedule adjusts to the pest pressures we deal with during that time of year.

When to start: Any time, but new customers who start in January–March typically see the smoothest first summer. Mid-summer starts still work (we just treat a little harder on visit one).

Frequently asked

Questions in Dallas, answered plainly.

If you don't see yours, call (972) 349-1621 or text us, a human will answer.

General Pest Control starts at $49/month, serviced quarterly, for a typical DFW home of 2,000–3,000 sq ft. Larger homes, acreage, or homes with active infestation may price higher. You can see your exact price in about 60 seconds at quote.forterrapestcontrol.com, no phone call, no credit card.

Four times a year on the quarterly plan, with the Dallas office scheduling it so nobody has to remember. On this older housing stock the visits are weighted to the perimeter, because that is where sixty years of remodelling left the routes in.

Yes. We do take every precaution and then some to protect your loved ones. The products we used are designed to eliminate little bugs. However, all the products we use are EPA-registered for use in and around homes. Furthermore, your family is actually why the Zero Gap System is so important: we reduce the likelihood bugs get inside and thus reduce the interior treatments that are needed. Anytime we apply a product you will receive, in our report, a list of the product we use. And you can always discuss any concerns with your technician.

No, you're not required to sign a long-term contract. Our default service contract term is 12 months. In exchange for committing to 12 months, we typically offer healthy discounts on your initial service (typically $200). If you don't want to be locked into a contract, we can simply not provide any discounts and you can pay full price for your initial service. In that situation, you are in a month-to-month contract. One nice thing is that after the initial 12-month contract term, your services continue as-is on a month-to-month basis. If you took the initial service discount and need to cancel prior to completing the 12-month contract term, we just ask that you pay back those initial service discounts.

Honest answer: it depends on the problem. A one-time service can knock down an active infestation, but it won't keep pests from coming back, DFW pest pressure is year-round, and the bugs outside your walls never stop trying to get in. Quarterly service is what actually keeps pests out long-term, because each visit seals more entry points and intercepts the next season's pressure before it builds. If you only want a one-time cleanout, we'll do it honestly and tell you what to expect, but we believe that a quarterly service is a better value given the coverage you get. But, being completely honest, it will cost more money throughout the year most likely. But you'll just be getting a lot more. One-time services tend to make sense if your budget doesn't allow for the quarterly plan or you are renting / or in a temporary location.

Call the office and we come back at no extra charge. On older Dallas properties this happens more than on newer stock, which is why the callback is part of the plan rather than a separate ticket. It is also how we find the penetration we missed.

Every single pest control company will take the time to go around and spray the chemicals. But no one (that we know of) takes the time to physically seal out the pests. Forterra uses physical barriers to prevent pests from getting in. We're not just spraying chemicals, which can break down or be applied incorrectly. We use products such as copper mesh, silicone, and caukl to make sure pests stay where they belong: outside.

Exterior rodent work is part of the plan, stations and perimeter attention. Interior rodent problems are a different job with their own free inspection, and on Dallas housing they usually are interior, because the tree canopy and alley runs put roof rats above the ceiling rather than around the foundation.

It covers the general pests, ants, roaches, spiders, crickets and the rest, plus exterior rodent work. Termites and mosquitoes are separate services. On older Dallas homes we would usually recommend looking at termites separately rather than assuming the quarterly plan has it covered.
