Tick Control in DFW

Rocky Mountain spotted fever is the most common tick-borne disease in Texas, carried mainly by the American dog tick. Lone star ticks transmit ehrlichiosis and can trigger the alpha-gal red-meat allergy, and blacklegged ticks carry Lyme disease, still uncommon in DFW but present. Pets face ehrlichiosis and tick paralysis on top of that.

Mowed turf is not where ticks live. They wait in the transition zones, fence lines, the brushy edge where your yard meets a greenbelt, shaded beds and leaf litter. If deer, squirrels or stray cats cross those edges of the property, they restock the ticks. That is why treatment targets the edges rather than the open lawn.

Yes. We use EPA-approved products, apply them to harborage zones rather than open play areas, and treated zones are back in normal use once dry, usually 15 to 30 minutes after treatment. You get exact guidance after each visit on what we treated and when the yard is fully back in use.

Most yards get tick treatment inside their quarterly coverage, $49 monthly at typical size, transition zones sprayed each visit. Heavily wooded lots backing greenbelts sometimes need expanded barrier work, priced separately and shared before scheduling.

Yes. Lone star and American dog ticks peak in DFW from spring into early summer, and adult blacklegged ticks stay active through fall and mild winter days, so the risk never fully stops. Within a day, ticks quest most in the cooler, damper morning and evening hours and pull back into shade and leaf litter when the afternoon heat dries the grass.

For most tick borne illnesses the window runs to many hours rather than minutes, which is why a daily check after time outdoors matters so much. Finding and removing one the same evening dramatically reduces the risk, and it turns a frightening discovery into a minor one for most households in this region. A check at the end of the day is the single most useful habit.

No, though the belief is widespread. They climb low vegetation and wait with their front legs extended for something to brush past, a behavior called questing, which is why they attach around ankles and lower legs far more often than shoulders. Keeping grass short and clearing leaf litter removes the platform they depend on. Nothing falls on anybody, which changes where the work belongs in a yard.
